Learning to be Content
Contentment is a consistent drum that beats throughout the Bible. Covetousness is a drum that beats through the hearts of men. Contentment must drum out covetousness so that we trust God in every circumstance.
The well-known and oft-used verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” is in the middle of a passage whose context is contentment, not one’s achievement. Paul had to learn to be content, whether in need or abundance and to trust God to supply all his needs while doing God’s will. So must we.
