Our core doctrine (beliefs) aligns with the Baptist Faith & Message, 2000.
We believe the Bible is God’s Word and it is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
As we read, hear, and study the Bible, we are constantly seeking to know God personally and to adjust our lives to put Biblical truth into daily practice. (Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:19)
“All Scripture is inspired by God…(2 Timothy 3:16)”
Believing the Bible is inerrant and sufficent, we preach verse-by-verse through sections and books of the Bible in order to fully proclaim the whole counsel of God to His people. The preaching and teaching minstries of OneHope alays promote the hearing of God’s Word and the application of it to our lives.
(Deuteronomy 5:1, 6:1-3; Joshua 1:6-8; Matthew 7:42)
“Blessed is the man who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice…(Matthew 7:24)”
We seek to help each person understand what it means to trust in Jesus for salvation and to walk in relationship with God.
(Romans 3:23, 5:8. 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:1-10; Matthew 7:21-23)
The Pastor and/or Elders are responsible to oversee the reception and examination of those who desire membership in the church. Those determined to show evidence of conversion will be presented to the church for a vote of affirmation. We are especially careful with children and prefer to see their parents leading them to trust in Christ and becoming a member of the church. We would never manipulate or rush any child.
(Matthew 18:6; Mark 9:42; Luke 17:2)
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God…(John 3:3)”
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation of the heart. It is a public identfication with Jesus and a proclomation that He is a person’s one hope for reconciliation with God. Baptism provides a picture of what Christ has done for them; symbolizing the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the new life of the resurrection! As followers of Jesus, Christians have a new identity in Christ.
Believers Baptism is one of two ordinances Jesus gave the church, the other being the Lord’s Supper, and everyone who trusts in Christ should be baptized by immersion.
(Matthew 3:13-16, 28:18-20; Mark 1:4; Acts 2:31, 8:36, 9:18, 22:16; Romans 6:3-8)
“As you are going, make disciples of every nation, baptizing them…(Matthew 28:20)”
The church is not a building or a business, rather, it is a community of believers.
Through our relationship with God through faith in Jesus,we share a relationship with each other. As such, every member from every generation is to live in fellowship and community with one another, sharing their spiritual life in Christ and forming a strong identity.
(Matthew 18:15-18; Romans 12:1-18; Acts 2:41-47, 4:32-35, 6:1-7; Hebrewes 13:17)
“So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to the others …(Romans 12:3)”
We believe the church is a family of families. We do not divide families into component parts but we minister to the whole; from senior adults all the way down to the nursing infants.
Keeping families together does more to promote unity, develop maturity, and build a healthy identity in Christ than most anything else. We follow the Scriptural model of a multigenerational community of believers, keeping all the families together rather than segregating them by age.
(Deuteronomy 31; Joshua 8; Nehemiah 8; Ezra 10; Joel 2; Ephesians 6; Colossians 3)
“Gather the people together, men, women, and children…that they may hear and learn, and fear the Lord your God…(Deuteronomy 31:12-13)”
Christianity is not merely a religion; it is a relationship, a lifestyle, a worldview.
We are to think biblically about every aspect of our lives and act according to the Scriptures. Should I pursue this job opportunity? Why does God allow bad things to happen to His people? How does my citizenship in heaven affect my national citizenship on earth? Is it ok for my children to read Harry Potter novels? Why do mass shootings happen? Will the world be destroyed by man? These questions and many more must all be viewed through the lens of Scripture and applied to our lives if we are to live out our identity in Christ.
(Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 10:5-6; Colossians 2:6; 1 Peter 1:14-16)
“Faith is first, and to faith add character, and to character add knowledge…(2 Peter 1:5)”
From the beginning of Creation, God distinguished a difference between men and women, male and female. This difference includes sexual oreientation and clearly defined roles in the home and in the church.
Our culture is attacking the gender and role distinctions God set forth in Creation and in His Word. We embrace, teach, and celebrate the distinct differences and roles God has given.
(Genesis 1 and 2; 1 Kings 2:1-3; Proverbs 12:4, 31; 1 Corinthians 16:13-14; 1 Timothy 5:14; Titus 2:3-5)
“Teach the older men to exemplify temperance, to be worthy of respect, self-controlled and sound in the faith…(Matthew 28:20)”
Motherhood is a high and honorable calling, established by God from the beginning, “Be fruitful and multiply.”
While not every woman will be a wife and/or mother, those who are have an incredible responsibility; a noble calling. We reject our culture’s view that women should abandon their God-given responsibility of being a “keeper at home” to obtain greater wealth, position, or possessions.
(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 113:9; 127:3; 128:3; Proverbs 31:27-31; Titus 2:3-5)
“She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat of the bread of idleness. (Proverbs 31:27)”
God has called us to be fruitful and multiply; physically bearing children and spiritually reproducing followers of Jesus Christ. We reject our culture’s view of children as financial burdens that should be received sparingly. Instead, we rejoice with those who receive children in abundance, and mourn with those whose prayerful plea for the blessing of children has gone unanswered.
(Psalms 127:3-5; 128; Genesis 1:28; Proverbs 17:6; Job 42:12-16).
“Children are a blessing from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward. (Psalm 127:3)”
We believe every Christian family should strive to give their children a Christian education, focusing on faith in the God of the Bible, Christ-like character development, and then knowledge.
We reject our culture’s view that education should be knowledge without God, the Bible, or a Christian worldview.
(Psalm 1; Proverbs 1:7-9; 2:1-7; 3:1-7;9:10; Luke 6:40; Ephesians 4:11-16; Romans 12:1-2; I Corinthians 1:18-21; II Corinthians 10:3-5; Colossians 2:8-10; Ephesians 6:1-4; 1 Timothy 6:20-21; 2 Peter 1:5).
“She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat of the bread of idleness. (Proverbs 31:27)”
While the church is called to make disciples, God has given the family the primary responsibility of making disciples.
One Hope Mobile works to equip, encourage, and expect every parent to disciple their children and to hand down this spiritual inheritance they have received from the Lord Jesus. Children are entrusted to parents for their spiritual nurture and parents cannot simply rely on the church to do their job.
(Genesis 12:8; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 78:5-8; Psalm 113:3; Ephesians 6:1-4; II Tim. 3:14-15).
“Tell the next generation the glorious deeds of the Lord…so that they should set their hope in God (Psalm 78)”
